The trip

Alright. We're here. It was a long week, and we're still kind of out of it. We'll write more once the jet lag wears off a bit more...

The first step was clearing out the apartment in Brooklyn.

How did everything ever fit in there? How did we ever fit in there? The apartment looked much smaller once we'd moved everything out, somehow.

Then there were other steps. We drove a Uhaul down to Maryland (to Naomi's parents) where we spent a wonderful couple days. We then flew out and had another wonderful couple days in Phoenix (despite the 118 degree heat) with some of Colin's relatives. All of this involved lots of good food.

We (very appropriately) flew out of the US on July 4. This was our last view of the US (the sun setting during our layover in LA).

Here's us on the plane, right before take-off.

We also did an 'after' picture, but it pretty much looks the same... just a little less flattering.

After a 13 hour flight to Auckland (New Zealand) and another 4 hour flight (and losing one day), we finally arrived in Melbourne! We settled in a bit and made our first shopping trip to buy essentials (such as cheap avocados!) at the South Melbourne Market.
Here's us on the Melbourne Bay, a few blocks from our apartment. It's winter here, so we've layered up.

The houses here are very cute. Some even have names.

Huh.

  1. Thanks for getting this together! I am amazingly relieved that you arrived safely and will wait anxiously for each posting. How does it feel to go to the flip slide? Is the water spinning in the opposite direction as it goes down the sink? Are you guys spinning the opposite direction yet? Tell all. I love you both so much! Mom
